Todor Tagarev criticizes President Radev over European interests
Former Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev has criticized President Rumen Radev, accusing him of promoting Kremlin-aligned narratives and acting against Bulgaria’s European interests. Tagarev stated that Radev’s recent public discourse is “two steps back and five to the side of the European debate,” suggesting the President views Europe as something separate from Bulgaria rather than an integral part of its prosperity.
Tagarev also commented on security concerns, including a drone incident at a Leipzig airport involving combat parts found near a Ukrainian aircraft, which he characterized as a Russian provocation. Furthermore, he expressed skepticism regarding the President's recent meetings with NATO Assistant Secretary General Scott Bray, describing them as a weak attempt to bolster Bulgaria’s Euro-Atlantic role.
