Todos Santos announces tenth annual Día de Muertos Festival
The tenth annual Día de Muertos Festival in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, has been officially announced for November 1 and 2. Organized by the La Paz City Council through the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Todos Santos delegation, the event aims to preserve Mexican traditions and promote local tourism.
The festival features a variety of activities, including traditional contests for altar making and characterization. Specific categories for characterization include Catrinas and Catrines (for both children and adults), Santos, and pets. Registration for these contests is open until October 25.
In addition to the competitions, the program includes the sale of handicrafts, typical gastronomy, music and dance performances, a screening of the film ‘Coco’, and the installation of a Grand Altar alongside a dedicated offering for pets. Local authorities noted that the festival is part of a strategy to decentralize cultural offerings and boost the local economy in the ‘Pueblo Mágico’ region.
