Toše Proeski film and series project announced in Rovinj

A major film and television project centered on the life of late singer Toše Proeski was unveiled at the Weekend. 19 festival in Rovinj. The ambitious production aims to encompass a feature film, a scripted series, and a documentary series.

Project creator Igor Stoimenov, producer Pece Taleski, and screenwriters Milana Vlaović and Andrej Volkashin discussed the challenges of portraying a figure so deeply embedded in the regional collective memory. The team intends to look beyond the public persona of the post-Yugoslav pop and rock star to explore the private individual behind the fame.

Stoimenov noted that the project is inspired by Proeski’s final interview, in which he expressed a desire to truly know himself, feeling disconnected from the perfect image the public had constructed. The production seeks to capture the man behind the powerful tenor, from his roots in Kruševo to his musical versatility spanning pop, rock, and opera.
