Toei Animation announces Precure spin-off Dual Shadow
Toei Animation has announced the production of “Dual Shadow ~Precure Villain Heroines~”, a new television anime spin-off within the “Precure” series. Scheduled for broadcast in 2027, the project will feature an entirely original story and original characters, distinguishing it from previous spin-offs.
A teaser promotional video was released alongside the announcement, showcasing a shift in tone from the franchise’s traditional themes. While the footage begins with a bright flower field, it transitions to a more ominous atmosphere accompanied by the text, “Because we aren’t Precure.” The teaser features a single flower under a spotlight and mysterious eyes appearing in the background, suggesting a “villain” centric theme.
The “Precure” franchise has been running since 2004, with 23 television series and 34 films produced to date. Specific details regarding the broadcast station and exact airing format remain unannounced.
