Toei Animation Celebrates 70th Anniversary and Launches Official “Toei Animation Day”
Toei Animation marked its 70th anniversary on July 31, commemorating the company’s founding in 1956 as Japan’s first full‑scale animation studio. The studio released a special anniversary movie, unveiled a new logo and the catchphrase “Anime ni Ai o, Sekai ni Yume o,” and opened a dedicated website outlining future commemorative activities.
The Japan Anniversary Association officially recognized July 31 as “Toei Animation Day.” The company urged fans to share memories using the hashtag #東映アニメーションの日. Physical promotions include a large banner at Nakano Plaza, photo‑spots and AR frames at the Toei Animation Museum in Ōizumigakuen, and a display of the studio’s 70‑year library. Toei Video announced Blu‑ray releases of five classic feature films, and publisher Gakken will publish a comic‑style report on the studio’s production process.
