Toei Bus driver referred to prosecutors for road rage in Tokyo

A male driver for the Toei Bus service in his 30s has been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act through aggressive driving. The incident occurred in October 2025 while the driver was operating a bus in transit between Shinobazu-dori in Bunkyo Ward and JR Komagome Station.

The driver is accused of engaging in road rage by repeatedly using unnecessary horn blasts and flashing lights at a general vehicle. Dashcam footage from the incident reportedly captured the driver shouting verbal abuse, including the phrase “bakayaro” (you idiot).

The matter came to light following a 110 emergency call from the victim. The driver has already faced administrative action resulting in the revocation of his driver's license. The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation stated it will conduct a thorough investigation and take strict measures regarding the matter.
