Tofaş sustains 20-year support for Hierapolis archaeological sites

Tofaş has maintained support for the excavation, restoration, and preservation of the Hierapolis Ancient City in Turkey since 2005. The site, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List alongside Pamukkale, has been the focus of long-term cultural heritage projects.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Denizli Governorship, the work involves an international team of approximately 40 experts, including archaeologists and architects from Turkey and Italy. Tofaş’s contributions have spanned various sites, including the Frontinus Gate, the Ancient Theater, the Necropolis, San Filippo Matrium, and the Ploutonion, also known as the ‘Gate of Hell.’

Excavations at the Ploutonion have provided significant historical insights, pushing the known history of Hierapolis back by approximately 300 years. Tofaş CEO Cengiz Eroldu stated that the company views these contributions not merely as sponsorships, but as sustainable investments in cultural heritage for future generations.
