Armenia political discourse focuses on Artsakh loss and Iran economic ties

Political commentators and figures in Armenia are expressing sharp criticism regarding the loss of Artsakh and the government's response. Political analyst Hakob Badalyan argued that relying on international law in the context of Artsakh is a sign of political incompetence, suggesting Azerbaijan exploited the collapse of international legal mechanisms to pursue aggression.

During a memorial march marking the third anniversary of the displacement of Armenians from Artsakh, Tigran Abrahamyan accused the Armenian authorities of facilitating the loss of the region through their political behavior and statements. He characterized the government's ideology as one of unilateral concessions.

Additionally, there is ongoing discussion regarding Armenia's strategic economic relations with Iran. Despite intensifying US sanctions against Tehran, Yerevan is working to strengthen ties, including a new initiative for a ‘simplified customs corridor’ to facilitate the movement of goods and transport. This policy is viewed as vital for Armenia's economic security, given its lack of open economic borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
