Toga Dam construction site to host exclusive infrastructure tours

Nanto City and the Gokayama NANTO Tourism Organization, in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, are launching a premium infrastructure tourism project featuring the Toga Dam construction site.

The Toga Dam is a large-scale multipurpose gravity concrete dam currently under construction in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. The project, which has been in development for approximately 50 years, is expected to be completed in fiscal year 2031.

Specialized tours will allow enthusiasts to access restricted areas of the construction site, including the Akamatsu Valley dam site and the Shimojima aggregate manufacturing plant. Participants will receive technical explanations from construction professionals regarding the specialized methods used to overcome the region's steep terrain and heavy snowfall. The tours, scheduled for October and November 2026, include exclusive items such as a 'tunnel breakthrough stone' and a themed 'Toga Dam Curry' lunch.
