Togo allocates 5.17 billion FCFA to 35 communes for local development
In Togo, thirty-five communes have been awarded 5.17 billion FCFA in funding through the Municipal Financing Support Program (PAFC). The agreements were signed in Lomé on October 13 to support priority investments in education, health, market facilities, and socio-economic development.
Beneficiary municipalities were selected based on their performance in resource management and project execution. The program, which covers 69 communes across the Kara, Centrale, and Plateaux regions, is supported by German financial cooperation through a 20 million euro donation. Projects will be implemented using an assisted management mechanism to provide technical support to local authorities.
Separately, in Chad, an UNICEF-led workshop was held in Abéché to strengthen financial governance across four provinces: Ouaddaï, Wadi Fira, Ennedi Est, and Sila. The initiative focuses on the Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT) to improve transparency, coordination, and accountability in how funds are managed by local authorities.
