Togo and Burkina Faso Ministers Approve Decrees on Product Standards and Telecom Fees
On 30 July 2026, the Council of Ministers of Togo, chaired by President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, adopted two regulatory decrees. One establishes a national mechanism to evaluate the conformity of local and imported products before market entry, aiming to protect consumers, ensure quality and safety, and enhance competitiveness. The second amends the telecom fee schedule to support the country’s digital transformation strategy, including expanded satellite and machine‑to‑machine services.
On 23 July 2026, Burkina Faso’s Council of Ministers, presided over by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, approved a series of reports and decrees. These include the adoption of statutes for the Technological Academy of Burkina Faso, the creation of two specialized professional high schools and 17 school complexes, the establishment of a national register of non‑profit organisations to combat money‑laundering and terrorist financing, and various finance, construction and communications measures, such as regulations for building laboratories and the organization of a West African mining week.
Both meetings reflect ongoing efforts in the UEMOA region to strengthen regulatory frameworks, improve public services, and promote economic development.
