Togo and Egypt discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation
Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Togo, Shahinaz Mahmoud Mohamed Abuseri, to discuss expanding strategic partnerships between the two nations.
The discussions focused on several priority sectors, including economic development, trade promotion, and agrobusiness. A significant portion of the meeting addressed the healthcare sector, specifically regarding medicine and the pharmaceutical industry. Togo aims to leverage Egyptian expertise and technology transfer to strengthen its local pharmaceutical production and reduce reliance on imports.
Additional areas identified for potential cooperation include infrastructure, professional training, and general business affairs, as both nations seek to consolidate their long-standing diplomatic and economic ties.
