Togo cocoa producers elect new leadership to drive excellence
Kokou Toulassi has been elected president of the Association des Lauréats de Cacao d’Excellence du Togo (ALCET) during a general assembly held in Tomégbé. For his three-year term, Toulassi aims to enhance the quality of national cocoa through producer training, the preservation of excellence standards, and the pursuit of specialized international markets.
The association’s leadership team includes Secretary Koffi Ekouadji and Treasurer Komi Aziague. The group focuses on transforming individual achievements into collective strength by sharing expertise among award-winning producers. Key objectives include formalizing the association's status with authorities and building connections with international producer networks.
This initiative seeks to position Togolese cocoa in high-end market segments, such as Europe and North America, by improving bean flavor and texture. By adopting modern agricultural techniques and sustainable practices, the producers aim to ensure stable incomes for smallholders and contribute to local economic development and environmental preservation.
