Togo Education Minister reviews academic year and sets 2026-2027 priorities
Togo's Minister of National Education, Mama Omorou, launched a workshop at the University of Lomé on October 8, 2026, to review the 2025-2026 academic year and prepare for the 2026-2027 term.
The meeting aims to analyze academic performance, success rates in national exams like the baccalaureate and BTS, and identify bottlenecks within institutions such as the University of Kara and the École Normale Supérieure d’Atakpamé. This transition marks the end of the 2020-2025 government roadmap and the beginning of the 2026-2031 roadmap, specifically the P10 program focused on human capital and productive youth.
Minister Omorou emphasized a shift toward better alignment between training, employment, and entrepreneurship. He stated that the university must consult the economy and urged stakeholders to “work differently.” To ensure practical utility, he announced that the creation of new academic tracks will now require employability studies conducted with private sector involvement.
