Togo hosts inaugural ‘The New Generation’ youth tennis tournament

The inaugural edition of ‘The New Generation’ tennis tournament concluded on September 5, 2026, at the Swallows Academy courts in Togo. Organized jointly by the Swallows Academy and the Tennis Club HSD, the six-day competition featured young players competing across several age categories, including U12, U14, U16, and U20 for both boys and girls.

Key winners included Pamela Adjiwonou in the U20 girls' category, who defeated Albertine Kpessou, and Gabriel Agbetognawo in the U20 boys' category. In the U12 girls' division, Francesca Gaha secured a victory over Akossiwa Agbotse after a three-set match. Other champions included Anoumou Tèko (U12 boys), Anselme Dabla (U14 boys), Florence Assagba (U14 girls), and Olivier Adote (U16 boys).

Gnama Gnimdou, the technical director of Swallows, described the tournament as a success that highlighted promising new talents for Togolese tennis. Tournament director Amoussou Justine noted that the event successfully brought together youth from different regions. Organizers intend to make the tournament a biennial event, and participants received special prizes and school supplies.
