Togo implements infrastructure and climate resilience strategies

Togo is implementing a multi-sectoral strategy to improve regional connectivity and climate resilience, particularly in its northern Savanes and Kara regions. Key infrastructure projects include a 25 MWc solar power plant in Dapaong designed to connect 12,100 households and provide essential energy for local economic activity.

To bolster regional integration, Togo is participating in the Lomé-Ouagadougou-Niamey corridor project. With $470 million mobilized, including $120 million for Togo, the initiative includes rehabilitating 115 km of the RN1 road to reduce freight transport times by 25%. Additionally, a new metal bridge is planned for the Kéran region to ensure continuous trade.

Social resilience is being addressed through the Emergency Program for Strengthening Resilience (PURS), which aims to assist over 433,000 vulnerable people with access to water and electricity. This is complemented by the EU-funded Savanes Kpaadu project.

To manage environmental risks, Togo has launched AdapTogo, a digital platform designed to centralize data on climate change. The tool tracks indicators in agriculture, forestry, water resources, tourism, and energy to help decision-makers anticipate threats such as droughts and floods.
