Togo integrates anti-corruption education into school curricula

The High Authority for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption and Related Offenses (HAPLUCIA) has launched a national workshop in Lomé to validate pedagogical tools designed to integrate anti-corruption education into Togo's school curricula. The initiative aims to promote integrity and transparency from preschool through secondary, technical, and non-formal education levels.

Rather than introducing a new standalone subject, the project utilizes a hybrid approach where integrity-based values are integrated into existing subjects such as civic and moral education, French, history-geography, philosophy, and law. This method ensures that teachers can deliver the content without increasing their overall workload or instructional time.

The validation process involves various educational experts reviewing manuals tailored to different learning stages. These include materials for preschool, primary, general secondary, technical education, and literacy programs. The goal is to help students identify corruption, understand its consequences, and learn to adopt responsible behaviors.
