Togo journalists undergo training to combat disinformation and AI manipulation

In Lomé, twenty journalists participated in a training session organized by the Union des journalistes indépendants du Togo (UJIT) focused on fact-checking techniques and digital tools to combat disinformation. The training, themed ‘Journalism facing disinformation: democratic and ethical stakes’, addressed the challenges posed by the rapid spread of digital content and the rise of sophisticated manipulation through artificial intelligence.

Eli Goka-Adokanu, Secretary General of UJIT, emphasized that improving verification skills is a professional necessity to prevent public misinformation and protect journalists from legal and ethical consequences resulting from unverified reporting.
