Togo launches training for 101 Fabmanagers to boost technological innovation

Togo has launched a specialized training program for 101 engineers and educators to become ‘Fabmanagers’. The initiative, inaugurated by Minister of National Education Mama Omorou, aims to strengthen technological innovation across the country’s regional centers and educational laboratories.

The training, which runs from August 24 to September 19, is designed to equip these professionals with the skills necessary to manage innovation spaces, including Regional Technological Innovation Centers (CRIT) and FabLabs in scientific middle and high schools. These managers will oversee student activities in programming, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and practical chemical experimentation.

The program is part of the 2026-2031 government roadmap focusing on digital transformation and human capital development. It is supported financially by the National Fund for Apprenticeship, Training, and Professional Development (FNAFPP) and the French Development Agency (AFD). Following their training, the Fabmanagers will be deployed to seven CRITs, seven scientific high schools, and 16 scientific middle schools to foster early scientific orientation among students.
