Togo launches water management project and flood relief efforts

Togo has launched two distinct initiatives to address resource management and humanitarian needs. In Dapaong, the ‘Water for Peace’ project was introduced by the Réseau Billital Maroobé (RBM) in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project aims to use concerted water resource management to foster dialogue and resilience between farmers and herders in the Savanes region, where competition for water and pasture can cause tension.

Separately, the Togolese government has initiated a humanitarian assistance operation in Agoè-Nyivé to support victims of the severe flooding that occurred in late June in the Grand Lomé area. With a budget of 1.1 billion FCFA, the program provides cash transfers and essential kits to 7,306 households, affecting approximately 26,603 people. Security Minister Calixte Batossie Madjoulba stated that this assistance is a critical step for the recovery and resilience of the affected populations.
