Togo military physician Captain Gnamassoule Briand laid to rest

Captain Gnamassoule Briand, a 31-year-old military physician serving the Togolese Armed Forces, was laid to rest on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The funeral followed the discovery of his body on September 23 in his office at the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) camp in Agoè-Nyivé.

Before joining the military, Briand practiced medicine in Dogta-Lafiè. While his sudden death has caused significant distress among his family and fellow officers, the exact circumstances and cause of death have not yet been publicly established, pending the results of an official investigation.
