Togo mobile money transactions exceed 4.4 trillion FCFA
Mobile money has become a pillar of Togo's digital economy, with electronic money transactions reaching 4,435.3 billion FCFA in 2025. According to the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) financial inclusion dashboard published by the BCEAO, this represents an increase of approximately 7.9% compared to 2024.
While Togo's growth rate is lower than the regional average of 39.7%, the country shows high engagement levels. Of the 10.45 million accounts recorded in 2025, approximately 5.69 million are considered active, resulting in an activity rate of 54.48%. This is the second-highest activity rate in the UEMOA region, following Guinea-Bissau and ahead of Burkina Faso.
Key transaction types include person-to-person transfers, valued at 1,258.8 billion FCFA across 73.4 million operations, and transfers between individual bank accounts and electronic wallets, totaling 207.1 billion FCFA. The country accounted for 2.5% of the total number of transactions and 2.02% of the total value within the UEMOA zone.
