Togo receives 305 new boreholes to improve water access

Togo has officially received 305 new boreholes equipped with manual pumps in the Plateaux region to improve access to drinking water. Part of the Village Hydraulics Project, these installations serve numerous villages across 12 prefectures, benefiting more than 70,000 residents.

The project is funded by the People's Republic of China as part of ongoing bilateral cooperation between Lomé and Beijing. The investment is valued at approximately 4.387 billion FCFA. During the handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Wang Min highlighted the infrastructure as a tangible result of the partnership.

Togolese Minister Delegate for Water and Sanitation, Séna Alipui, stated that the initiative supports the government's goal of achieving universal access to drinking water by 2030. He emphasized the importance of community maintenance to ensure the long-term sustainability of the water points.
