Côte d'Ivoire and Togo implement economic and food security strategies

Côte d'Ivoire is launching an ambitious plan to increase its national animal protein coverage from 36% to 75% by 2030. To support this, the government has announced a return to a 0% VAT rate on animal feed and related inputs for the 2026-2027 period to reduce production costs. Additionally, the Ivorian tax administration reported strong performance, mobilizing approximately 4,469 billion FCFA in revenue through September 2026.

Togo is also advancing several economic and food security initiatives. The government aims to acquire 41,000 tonnes of cereals in 2026 to bolster food reserves. In the Savanes region, the FAO is supporting 1,000 market gardeners with improved seeds and fertilizers. Furthermore, Togo and Germany have agreed on over 25 billion FCFA in new funding for priority sectors including agriculture, energy, and health. On the corporate front, the Association of Large Enterprises of Togo (AGET) is advocating for the development of national champions to help double the country's national wealth by 2040.
