Togo slashes aviation fees by up to 99% to boost airline entry

Togo has announced a drastic reduction in civil aviation fees to encourage the entry of new airlines and position Lomé as a central West African aviation hub. The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has revised its tariff framework, with some reductions reaching up to 99%.

Key changes include the cost of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), which will drop from 215 million to 3.5 million FCFA. The renewal fee for these certificates will decrease from 108 million to 1.4 million FCFA. Additionally, aircraft registration fees will fall from 18.9 million to 1.75 million FCFA, and airworthiness certificate renewals will drop from 18.7 million to 1.5 million FCFA.

Other reductions between 40% and 90% apply to crew licensing and documentation for pilots and flight attendants. This reform aligns with the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) objectives and aims to bolster national technical oversight, maintenance, and training capabilities at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport.
