Togo strengthens diplomatic ties and local governance initiatives

In Lomé, Togo has strengthened its diplomatic ties as the President received credentials from new ambassadors representing Germany and Egypt. Stefan Anton Messerer, the new German ambassador, and Shahinaz Mahmoud Mohamed Abuseri, the new Egyptian ambassador, met with the head of state to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Discussions with Germany focused on economic development, investment, decentralization, agro-industrial transformation, and vocational training. Cooperation with Egypt aims to enhance relations in trade, agriculture, and economic exchange.

Separately, the executive bureau of the Network of Elected Local Women of Africa (REFELA-Togo) met with the Minister of Territorial Administration, Local Governance and Customary Affairs, Colonel Awaté Hodabalo. The delegation, led by President Rachel Marie-Cécile K. Woedina Ywassa, presented its strategic orientations.
