TOHO announces top four monsters in new Godzilla election

TOHO Co., Ltd. has announced the top four finalists in the ‘TOHO presents New Monster Election,’ a project designed to create new monsters to stand alongside Godzilla. Following a first phase of voting that garnered over 170,000 votes from Japan and around the world, the following four entities have advanced to the second phase:

• Xenolf: A dimensional lifeform from another universe capable of space manipulation and inducing hallucinations. • Sasius: An amphibious multi-legged drone carrier designed as an anti-Godzilla weapon. • Gilcus: A ferocious cosmic monster that consumes planetary resources and energy. • Reged: An ancient dinosaur survivor that evolved into a monster due to global warming and nuclear waste.

The second phase of voting begins on October 17 at midnight. The winner will be officially announced at ‘Godzilla Fest 2026’ and will appear in a new special effects production, ‘Fest Godzilla,’ from 2027 onwards.
