Toho raises full-year net profit forecast to 48 billion yen

Toho Co., Ltd. has upwardly revised its consolidated net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 to 48 billion yen, up from the previous estimate of 41 billion yen. This 17% increase is attributed to the partial sale of investment securities during the third quarter.

In its second-quarter financial results, the company reported a decline in overall revenue and operating profit compared to the previous year. Operating revenue fell 3.4% to 185.16 billion yen, while operating profit decreased 24.8% to 30.94 billion yen. This downturn was largely driven by a decline in the core movie business, which faced a high comparison base from previous major hits.

Despite the overall decline, Toho’s IP and animation segments showed strong growth. Revenue for the IP and animation business rose 15.6% to 43.13 billion yen, supported by global streaming and merchandise sales for titles such as ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’, ‘My Hero Academia’, and ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey's End’. Additionally, game-related revenue surged 57.9% year-on-year, bolstered by collaborations and titles like ‘Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade’. The company maintains its full-year forecasts for operating revenue and operating profit.
