Tohoku Shinkansen resumes service after maintenance delays
Service on the Tohoku Shinkansen was temporarily suspended on the morning of September 3 due to delays in nighttime maintenance work.
According to JR East, the issues began around 4:30 AM when a maintenance vehicle experienced speed issues between Sendai and Furukawa stations in Miyagi Prefecture. This caused initial suspensions on the inbound lines between Sendai and Koriyama.
As maintenance delays persisted, service was also suspended on both lines between Nasushiobara and Morioka. While all services resumed by 8:50 AM, the disruptions resulted in delays and cancellations for some trains.
