Toji Temple announces 2026 autumn foliage night illuminations

Toji Temple in Kyoto has announced its 2026 autumn foliage illumination and special night viewing schedule. The event is set to run from October 31 to December 13, 2026, from 18:00 to 21:30.

Visitors can view approximately 200 maple trees illuminated at night, including the reflection of the five-story pagoda in the Hyotan-ike pond. The special viewing also includes access to the National Treasure Kando and the Important Cultural Property Kodo, where the ‘Three-Dimensional Mandala’ can be observed in a solemn nighttime atmosphere. Admission is 1,000 yen for high school students and above, and 500 yen for junior high school students and below.
