Tokaj hosts the 54th Tokaji Írótábor literary festival

The 54th Tokaji Írótábor, a three-day literary and public life festival, is set to begin on Monday. The event features a diverse program including roundtable discussions, theatrical performances, readings, exhibitions, and concerts.

Key highlights include an exhibition titled "Nomad Generation" by the Hungarian Academy of Arts' Miskolc regional workshop, opened by artist István Vidák. The official opening ceremony will take place at the Rákóczi Cellar, featuring speeches by Tokaj Mayor György Posta and László L. Simon, president of the Tokaji Írótábor Association. Additionally, the Tenkács House, dedicated to former Tokaj painter Tibor Tenkács, will be inaugurated.

The festival's schedule includes commemorations of László Németh's 125th anniversary and Dániel Berzsenyi's 250th anniversary. The final day will focus on the relationship between literature and politics, discussing the future of book publishing, journals, and literary support systems. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony presenting the Tokaji Írótábor Prize, the Hordó Prize, and the Hungarian Writers' Association Debut and Patron Awards.
