Tokat accommodation sector implements green energy transformation

A carbon-neutral transformation project has been implemented in the accommodation sector in Tokat, Turkey, aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Supported by the Middle Black Sea Development Agency (OKA) through the SoGreen Project—a collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the World Bank—the initiative replaces traditional natural gas and chiller-based climate control systems with high-efficiency, air-to-water reversible heat pump technology.

The transition is expected to eliminate the annual consumption of approximately 72,300 cubic meters of natural gas, effectively ending the facility's reliance on fossil fuels. This shift is designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions and lower the facility's carbon footprint while decreasing operational costs. Beyond environmental benefits, the project has also contributed to local employment, creating two new qualified positions within the facility.
