Tokat launches ‘Archery is My Sport’ project for students

The ‘Archery is My Sport’ project has been launched in Tokat, expanding from its origins in Istanbul. An agreement was signed between the Tokat Governor’s Office and the Okçular Vakfı to introduce both traditional Turkish archery and Olympic-style archery to students.

In the initial phase, 16 schools across the city center and seven districts will participate. Ten of these schools will focus on traditional Turkish archery, while six will provide Olympic archery training. The program aims to connect youth with their cultural heritage through sports, covering students from ages 4 to high school seniors.

Tokat Governor Abdullah Köklü noted that teachers have already received specialized training from the Okçular Vakfı to ensure the proper transmission of both modern and traditional techniques. The long-term goal is to expand the project to all schools within the province.
