TOKİ completes 83,504 social housing units in 58 cities

The Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) has completed the construction of 83,504 social housing units across 58 cities during the first nine months of 2026. This initiative, part of the ‘Century Construction Mobilization,’ aims to provide housing for low- and middle-income citizens.

Monthly production data shows that construction efforts were distributed across various provinces. In January, over 6,000 units were completed in 12 cities, including Adana, Ankara, and Izmir. February saw 8,858 units completed in 13 cities, including Bursa and Istanbul. Subsequent months continued this momentum, with thousands of units added in cities such as Hatay, Malatya, and Gaziantep.

In Istanbul, a specific rental social housing project involving 1,071 units is moving into its next phase. Following the conclusion of the application process on September 25, the lottery to determine the rights holders for these rental units is scheduled to take place in October 2026. These units will be leased for three-year terms, after which a new lottery will be held to reassign the housing.
