Tokuyama expands semiconductor material production in Vietnam and Malaysia
Japanese manufacturer Tokuyama is expanding its production of essential semiconductor materials in Vietnam and Malaysia to diversify its supply chain and reduce reliance on Japanese production.
A new facility in Vietnam, which recently opened, will focus on the crushing, cleaning, and analysis of polysilicon, a key raw material for semiconductor wafers. Tokuyama has invested $60 million in this plant, which is expected to have an annual capacity of 4,000 tons and begin commercial production in 2027.
Additionally, Tokuyama plans to complete a polysilicon synthesis and deposition plant in Malaysia by next spring. This project will be operated through a joint venture with South Korean company OCI, with a total estimated investment of approximately $300 million.
