Tokuyama opens semiconductor polysilicon factory in Vietnam
Japanese chemical producer Tokuyama has inaugurated a new polysilicon factory in Vietnam’s Phu My 3 Special Industrial Park, located in Ho Chi Minh City. The facility is designed to manufacture and distribute polycrystalline silicon used for semiconductor silicon wafers.
The company stated that the plant aims to ensure a stable supply of raw materials for advanced semiconductors and strengthen the global supply chain. The project represents a total investment of VND 580 billion (approximately $22.2 million). While Tokuyama has not officially disclosed the facility's capacity, local reports suggest an annual production capacity of 4,995 MT.
This marks Vietnam’s first facility dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of polycrystalline silicon for the semiconductor industry. The company will now proceed with trial operations and quality checks.
