Tokyo and Nagoya orchestras schedule major 2026 concerts

The Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its 45th regular concert on October 1, 2026 at the Ota‑ku Civic Hall (Applico Hall) in Tokyo. Guest concertmaster violinist Chihiro Inoda and harpist Risa Shimizu will join the program, which includes Mendelssohn’s overture “Fingal’s Cave,” Bruckner’s *Scotland Fantasy* and Brahms’s Symphony No. 2. Tickets range from ¥3,000 to ¥5,000, with a ¥1,000 discount for sales through the Confetti ticket platform.

The Nagoya Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra’s “Dual Concerto Series 4” is set for August 2, 2026 at the Home&nico Hall of the Kōnan City Cultural Center. Young soloists Jin Yu Shindo (piano) – a finalist of the 19th Chopin International Piano Competition – and Haruma Sato (cello) – the first Japanese winner of the 68th ARD Munich International Music Competition – will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in D minor. Conductor Yu Kumakura leads the orchestra. Admission is ¥6,000 for adults and ¥3,500 for students.
