Tokyo Bihadado survey shows rising use of online aesthetic medicine
A survey of 440 users by the online skin consultation service Tokyo Bihadado reveals shifting trends in how consumers access aesthetic medicine. The study found that 67.3% of respondents had no prior experience with physical dermatology clinics before using the online service, suggesting that telemedicine is lowering the psychological and physical barriers to seeking professional skin care.
Contrary to the perception that aesthetic medicine is prohibitively expensive, approximately 79.8% of users spend less than 20,000 yen per month on beauty and health maintenance. This expenditure remains relatively consistent across various income levels, with the most common spending range being between 5,000 and 20,000 yen.
The survey also highlighted a trend toward holistic health. Among users who utilize both oral medication and clinical procedures, 25.7% began with oral medication. Furthermore, 73.6% of respondents reported changing their lifestyle habits as a result of starting their skin care regimen through oral medication.
