Tokyo Disneyland unveils 2027 Tomorrowland redevelopment plans

Tokyo Disneyland has announced official names and details for a major 100 billion yen ($630 million) redevelopment of its Tomorrowland area, scheduled for 2027.

The centerpiece of the overhaul is the reimagined Space Mountain, which will be renamed ‘Space Mountain Earthrise’. The attraction will feature entirely new architecture, a redesigned ride system, and a new thematic narrative focused on the connection between Earth and the universe. Notably, it will be the first coaster at Tokyo Disney Resort to feature an onboard audio system, alongside enhanced lighting and theatrical effects.

Additionally, the park will introduce ‘Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue’, a new interactive indoor attraction themed after the Disney film ‘Wreck-It Ralph’. Replacing the former ‘Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters’, this ride will allow guests to enter a digital game world to assist characters Ralph and Vanellope.

The redevelopment also includes the creation of ‘Tomorrowland Plaza’, a central area designed to connect the land’s attractions through immersive light and sound displays. New supporting facilities, such as the ‘Pixel Prism’ shop and ‘Element Express’ restaurant, will also debut as part of the transformation.
