Tokyo Eco Market opens in Azabu‑Juban, Governor Yuriko Koike attends

Tokyo's new specialist shop for eco‑certified agricultural products, the "Tokyo Eco Market," opened in Azabu‑Juban, Minato‑ku on 6 August 2026. The temporary store will operate until 17 March 2027, selling fresh eco produce, processed foods and hosting events that showcase items grown with reduced chemical pesticides and fertilizers as part of the city's 2050 sustainability strategy.

An opening programme was held at the nearby BIRTH LAB, featuring a talk session with local farmers, chefs and processing firms, and a tasting of dishes prepared by partner restaurants – the Italian eatery "fragment" and the Japanese venue "Azabu Ami‑shiro" – that use the eco produce. Governor Yuriko Koike attended the event, emphasizing the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's support for sustainable agriculture and the connection between producers and city consumers.
