Tokyo Electron Device launches FalconVault to protect edge AI models

Tokyo Electron Device (TED) has announced the launch of FalconVault, a new solution designed to protect the intellectual property of edge AI models. The technology is intended to safeguard specialized, generative, and physical AI models running on local PCs or edge devices from unauthorized access, leakage, or tampering.

FalconVault works by encrypting AI models fine-tuned on Microsoft Azure and linking them to specific hardware using a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). This ensures that even if model files are extracted, they cannot be decrypted or executed on unauthorized devices. Additionally, the system uses an allowlist to control which applications can access the AI models, blocking any unregistered programs.

The solution targets industries requiring secure, local AI processing, such as industrial machinery, medical devices, OEM manufacturing products, and retail terminals. TED offers various licensing options, including an evaluation version and a full version with implementation support.
