Tokyo film festivals announced for October 2026

The Hibiya Cinema Festival 2026 is scheduled to take place from October 9 to October 25 at three locations: Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, Hibiya Park, and Hibiya OKUROJI. The festival features free screenings, including family-oriented films at Hibiya Park and specialized screenings at Hibiya OKUROJI. The main venue at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya will host large-screen movie showings and talk sessions with directors and cast members.

Following this event, the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival will commence on October 26. The festival's centerpiece screenings have been announced, including the opening film “Sukiyaki” by Takahisa Zeze, which stars Junichi Okada, Tori Matsuzaka, and Taiga Nakano. Additionally, Yamazaki Takashi’s “Godzilla Minus Zero” will make its domestic debut, and Yeon Sang-ho’s “Colony” is set to close the festival on November 4.
