Tokyo Game Show celebrates 30th anniversary with major game reveals

The 30th anniversary of the Tokyo Game Show was held in Chiba, Japan, showcasing major upcoming titles and highlighting the strength of the Japanese gaming industry. Key highlights included Square Enix’s presentation of the action RPG ‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation’, which is slated for a April 2027 release, and Rockstar Games’ display of ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’, which is expected to launch in November.

Other notable presentations included Capcom’s ‘Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance’, Sega’s ‘Stranger Than Heaven’ and ‘Persona 4 Revival’, and various classic revivals such as ‘Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse’. The event also noted a growing PC gaming segment in Japan, which has risen to approximately 12.5% of the market. Additionally, the indie developer zone saw significant growth, featuring 292 companies.
