Tokyo hairdresser Shogo Fujii sentenced to five years in prison
Shogo Fujii, a popular hairdresser who operated the Omotesando-based salon ‘ELTE’, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Tokyo District Court. The ruling follows charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse and indecent assault.
Investigations revealed that Fujii committed sexual offenses against six female clients over a period of approximately five years and eight months, beginning in January 2020. The court described the series of crimes as ‘persistent and malicious.’ While the court took into account that Fujii paid 11.06 million yen in settlements to the victims, it denied a suspended sentence.
In addition to the prison term, Fujii’s business operations have collapsed. The company managing ‘ELTE’ was declared bankrupt by the Tokyo District Court on August 5. Before his arrest, Fujii maintained a high-profile lifestyle on Instagram, where he had approximately 15,000 followers and was recognized as a ‘charismatic hairdresser.’
