Tokyo hosts free medical school outreach events for aspiring doctors

The Kawai Juku Group’s medical‑preparatory school, Medical Lab, will hold a free two‑part lecture on 13 September 2026 at the Marunouchi Hall of Tokyo Station. The first session features Chiba University emeritus professor 生坂政臣, who will speak about his experience with a missed appendix diagnosis and the role of error in medical practice. The second session will be led by the popular lecturer 可児良友, who will advise on current medical school entrance trends, interview preparation and study methods for prospective students and their families. The event will also include a one‑on‑one consultation service.

Separately, the University of Tokyo’s annual campus festivals (May Festival at the Hongo campus and Komaba Festival at the Komaba campus) have attracted large crowds with a popular medical‑department booth where visitors can try suturing, laparoscopy, phlebotomy and other procedures. The hands‑on activities, open to schoolchildren and adults, are accompanied by quizzes on medical cases and displays of DNA and heart models, highlighting the university’s effort to engage the public with medical science.
