Tokyo launches support project for children in Hachijo Island
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is launching the ‘Kodomo Waku Waku Support Project in Hachijo Island’ to support local children following the impact of typhoons 22 and 23 in 2025. The initiative is part of the ‘Kodomo Smile Movement’ and the ‘Tokyo Children’s Creative Lab’ (Kurilabo), aimed at fostering a society that values children and provides digital creative experiences.
Scheduled programs include toy drone play, dinosaur attractions, fossil excavation, and volleyball instruction by former Japanese national team players in October. In November, the project will offer digital workshops focusing on 3D printing, 3D modeling, game creation, and video production. These activities are designed to provide unique experiences and help children develop skills for a digital society. The programs are primarily intended for residents and students of Hachijo Town.
