Tokyo launches Tokyo Map to consolidate disaster and utility data

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and GovTech Tokyo have launched the official version of ‘Tokyo Map,’ a web-based platform designed to consolidate various municipal map data into a single interface. The service allows users to access and overlay multiple layers of information via PC or smartphone browsers for free.

Currently, the platform offers 10 types of map data covering sectors such as disaster prevention, environment, digital services, welfare, and water supply. To improve usability, the site includes pre-set themes: ‘Protect yourself from summer heat,’ which combines heat maps, green spaces, and drinking water stations; ‘Prepare for earthquakes,’ which overlays damage estimates, free Wi-Fi, and emergency water stations; and ‘Prepare for floods,’ which integrates inundation maps with Wi-Fi and water station locations.

Users are advised that copyright and usage terms vary by individual map provider, and detailed terminology should be verified through the original source websites.
