Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line suspended due to potential asbestos
Service on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line was disrupted on August 11, 2026, following the discovery of materials potentially containing asbestos at Hanzomon Station.
Due to the risk of asbestos dispersion, Tokyo Metro suspended operations between Shibuya Station and Kudanshita Station to conduct safety inspections. The disruption also affected the Tobu Skytree Line, which operates through-services with the Hanzomon Line.
While some sections operated with turnaround services between the Tokyu Line and Shibuya, and between Kudanshita and the Tobu Line, full service resumption was expected by the afternoon. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
