Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi redevelopment project completed

Mitsui Fudosan and Nomura Real Estate announced the completion of the Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi redevelopment project on September 30, 2026. This large-scale mixed-use development is part of the Nihonbashi Riverwalk initiative, aiming to integrate diverse urban functions including commercial zones, luxury hotels, residential units, MICE facilities, and offices.

The commercial zone will feature approximately 100 units spanning 20,000 square meters across three distinct areas. These areas are interconnected via decks and underground passages and are scheduled to open within 2027.

In conjunction with the development, the Nihonbashi Ichome Energy Center was completed on September 30, 2026, through a partnership between Mitsui Fudosan and TEPCO Energy Partner. Starting October 1, 2026, the center will provide electricity and heat to the entire Tokyo Midtown Nihonbashi district using a cogeneration system (CGS).

By utilizing AI-driven energy management technology, the project aims to achieve local energy production and consumption, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 25%. The system is designed to enhance business continuity planning (BCP) by ensuring stable energy supplies even during widespread power outages.
