Tokyo National Museum to Open New Dining Venues in 2026

Tokyo National Museum will refresh three on‑site dining outlets. Two venues – THE RESTAURANT and Garden Cafe – are scheduled to open on 28 August 2026 in the museum’s East Wing, offering a mix of modern Japanese set meals, light terrace fare and specialty items such as truffle‑flavoured fries. The third venue, the sushi‑kaiseki restaurant 鮨会席 おく乃, will open on 30 September 2026 in the Hōryū‑ji Treasure Hall, featuring seasonal courses and a counter with eight seats plus a private room. All three establishments will be operated by Oakes Co. and are designed to extend the museum‑visit experience, integrating food with cultural appreciation. Admission fees for the museum will apply to restaurant patrons, with reservations required for THE RESTAURANT and optional for the other venues.
